In late 1980s Soviet Kazan, two 14-year-olds, Andrey and Marat, struggle to survive amidst poverty and social upheaval. Turning to street gangs, they confront a world ruled by loyalty and violence, as Andrey evolves from an outsider into a tough criminal during the collapse of the old society.
